Excursions, activities, accommodation & car hire in Mauritius

Things to do in Mauritius, shown by a local.

The Mauritius only a local can show you: private catamaran excursions, mountain hikes, dolphin swims and slow island afternoons, shaped around you by the people who were born here.

We are not a booking website. We are your people on the island.

Tropik’île is a Mauritian tour operator, and we look after the whole trip, not just the day out. The excursions and activities we design and run ourselves; your accommodation and car hire we arrange alongside them, so your stay, your car and your days out are booked through one local team. Come for a single day trip or let us shape the entire holiday.

Our own AI engine

Local at heart. AI-first by design.

Behind every trip is software we built ourselves: a travel concierge that plans with you and answers at any hour, and an engine that helps the guides and operators we work with run a warmer, tighter operation.

Two adults and our 6-year-old, 4 days in December. We love the sea but she gets seasick.

Then let’s stay close to shore. Day one, the undersea walk at Grand Baie, calm and no boat. Day two, Île aux Cerfs with a short, sheltered crossing. Shall I check availability for those dates?

Yes please.

Both are open on the 12th and 13th. I’ve held the morning slots and let your guide know.

For travellers

A concierge, the whole way

Tell it who is travelling and what you love and it shapes the whole trip in minutes, excursions, activities and where to stay, checks live availability, and answers at any hour, from tides and opening times to what to pack. With you before you fly and while you are here.

For operators

The engine behind the guides

The same engine sits in every operator’s inbox. It pulls up bookings, availability, reviews and revenue on request, drafts replies and handles change requests, so the people running your trip spend less time on admin and more with you.

Excursions & experiences

Three ways to meet the island

We’re only just opening our doors, so rather than a menu, here is the kind of day we love to shape, and we sort the accommodation and car hire around it too. Tell us which one pulls at you and we’ll build the rest around it.

01On the water

The lagoon comes first

It is why most people fly here, so it is where we begin. Catamaran mornings out across the turquoise, wild dolphins met at first light, and calm afternoons snorkelling the reef. Small boats, quiet coves, and crews we choose ourselves.

02Peaks & waterfalls

Into the wild interior

Past the beaches the island turns green and dramatic. Le Morne at sunrise, the Black River gorges, the seven-coloured earth and the highland waterfalls. We walk it slowly, with guides who read the weather and know where the coaches never stop.

Mauritian ingredients, spices and street food
03Culture & flavour

The Mauritius you taste

The island is Creole, Indian, Chinese and French all at once, and you taste every bit of it. Bustling markets and temples, family kitchens, street-corner snacks and a slow tasting at an old rum distillery. The part of a trip people remember longest.

Where you’ll go

Five corners, one island

Mauritius changes character every twenty minutes of driving. We know which corner suits which day, and which is quietest when.

The North

Grand Baie & Pamplemousses

Beach days, sunset sails and the island-hopping that made the north famous.

The West

Le Morne, Tamarin & Black River

Dolphins at dawn, kite beaches and the most photographed mountain in Mauritius.

The Interior

Chamarel & the highlands

Waterfalls, rum, rainforest and the seven-coloured earth of the highlands.

The Centre

Curepipe & Grand Bassin

The cooler plateau: Grand Bassin’s sacred lake, Trou aux Cerfs and highland tea country.

The East

Flacq & Île aux Cerfs

The widest lagoons, the softest sand and the catamaran days people fly back for.

Why Tropik’île

Travelled well, and travelled right

We started Tropik’île because the island we love was too often sold as a checklist. We run every trip the way we’d want our own family shown around, honestly, warmly and without the coach-tour rush.

A palm-fringed Mauritius beach and turquoise lagoon

Born and based here

Every itinerary is run by Mauritians who know which beach is calm on a windy day and which road the tour buses miss.

Small groups, real guides

No coaches of forty. You travel in small parties with a guide who has time for your questions and your camera.

Gentle on the island

We work with reef-safe operators and community partners, because the Mauritius you came for has to be here next year too.

Tailored, not packaged

Tell us who is travelling and what you love. We shape the days around you rather than selling a fixed circuit.

Good to know

Things to do in Mauritius, answered

What are the best things to do in Mauritius?

Among the most loved are a catamaran cruise to Île aux Cerfs, the sunrise hike up Le Morne, swimming with wild dolphins off Tamarin, the seven-coloured earth and waterfalls at Chamarel, and the undersea walk at Grand Baie. Tropik’île runs all of these as private or small-group excursions.

Do you arrange accommodation and car hire, or only excursions?

The whole trip. Alongside our excursions and activities, we book your accommodation and arrange car hire, so your stay, your car and your days out are handled by one local team, on one plan and one price. Just tell us what you need.

Do you offer single excursions and day trips, or only full itineraries?

Both. Book a single Mauritius excursion or day trip, or let us plan a full multi-day itinerary shaped around what you love. Everything is tailor-made.

Which part of Mauritius is best to visit?

It depends on your pace. The north around Grand Baie and Pamplemousses for beaches and island-hopping, the west around Le Morne, Tamarin and Black River for dolphins and sunsets, the highlands around Chamarel for waterfalls and rum, and the east around Flacq and Île aux Cerfs for the calmest lagoons.

How do we book an excursion or trip?

Email us at sales@tropikile.com with your dates and what you would like to do, and we will come back with a plan and a price. No deposit to talk. We work in English, French and German.

Let’s plan your Mauritius

Tell us who’s coming. We’ll shape the days.

Send us your dates and what you love, whether that’s reefs, rum, hikes or hammocks, plus the accommodation and car hire if you need them, and we’ll come back with one plan and one price. No deposit to talk.
